Great Rivers Research Center

River City Construction personnel maintain certifications and memberships in a wide range of professional organizations in order to provide our clients with a high level of expertise.

LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Certification / Accreditation

LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED promotes a whole building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five (5) key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Acknowledging the green movement is easy; committing to it is an altogether different proposition. Yet, this is exactly what River City Construction has done through its membership in the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and its commitment to employee accreditation in the design and construction of environmentally friendly projects. To date, (15) members of the River City Construction staff have earned the distinguished LEED Accredited Professional (AP) designation. At River City Construction, we want our clients to have the assurance that we have the highest standards in our industry, including expertise on the best and most current environmental options. The LEED accreditation will give River City Construction professionals the edge when assisting clients with energy efficiency and environmental design decisions.

American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and Certified Healthcare Constructors (CHC) Certification

Working in a healthcare environment requires specialized training. To meet the rigor and demands of working in this environment, River City Construction currently has on staff two (2) personnel who have completed the Certified Healthcare Constructor’s certificate program and (20) personnel who have completed the American Society for Healthcare Engineering certificate program. These programs have trained these individuals on environmental infection control, interim life safety measures and medical gas as well as JACHO Standards (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements. River City Construction is committed to the ongoing training that these programs provide.

AISC Certification – Yes, it’s that important

As of 1/1/09, River City Construction is one of only 163 companies across the U.S. that is currently recognized with the prestigious AISC Steel Erection Certification.

For more than 75 years, AISC has set the standard by which the steel industry is measured. An AISC Certified company has been placed through a rigorous examination to confirm that it has the personnel, organization, experience, procedures, knowledge, equipment, capability and commitment to produce work of the highest quality.

The AISC Certification process involves a comprehensive examination to evaluate a company’s quality management system. Certification is based upon a third party audit conducted by people experienced in steel fabrication and/or erection. Certification looks at a company’s processes and procedures to ensure that quality is addressed throughout the entire organization. AISC auditors pride themselves on being tough and companies must correct any deficiencies to pass their audit and receive certification.

Certification is just one of the ways River City Construction lets you, the Project Owner, know that we are dedicated to providing the highest quality work. While many companies can claim that they provide quality work, River City Construction takes quality to the next level by subjecting our processes and quality control procedures to an outside, independent third-party verification process. River City Construction is a company that has dedicated the people and resources necessary to meet and exceed our clients exacting standards.

IAQ / Mold Awareness Specialists

River City Construction currently has on staff (48) employees who have completed the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Mold Awareness Training. This performance based training program covers the basics of mold, identifying mold growth, building conditions that support mold growth, mold remediation, mold prevention, and mold standards and guidelines.

Safety Training / OSHA Partnerships

Safety is a priority on all River City Construction job sites and ongoing training is the key to maintaining a safe working environment. Recognizing the need for the advanced safety training of its supervisory personnel, River City Construction currently has (60) members of its staff who have attained their 30-hour OSHA certification.

Additionally, for every project, River City Construction establishes priorities and sets high standards for its employees regarding safety practices. To illustrate its aggressive stance on safety, River City Construction was the first contractor in downstate Illinois to implement a formal partnership with OSHA. This partnership allows for innovation in safety management and encourages more participation in the safety process amongst all parties. River City Construction has also established formal OSHA partnerships in Southern Illinois and Central Missouri.
