In-Patient Treatment Center, Illinois Department of Corrections, Capital Development Board

Joliet, IL

Project Summary

The new In-Patient Treatment Center is 161,000 square feet, the Administration Building is 20,000 square feet, and Central Utility Plant is 10,000 square feet. The purpose of this new facility is to provide an environment suitable for treatment and care of approximately (150) psychiatric patients and (50) general medical care patients under custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC). These patient populations are intended to be housed in separate units within a single IDOC campus, and the treatment center will include separate care units for male and female patients as well. No living unit will house more than 24 offenders and the design expectation is to maximize natural light. LEED Silver Certification is required, and additional energy efficiencies are under consideration.
