New Radioisotope Science Center, University of Missouri

The Discovery Ridge Radioisotope Science Center is a 36,116 SF facility and part of MU’s NextGen MURR initiative. MURR is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States and the sole domestic producer of certain radioisotopes used in targeted cancer treatments and diagnostics.

The facility will include office, hot cell production, cleanrooms, research and development, and shipping and receiving spaces. The production area will be purpose-built for radioisotope processing, supporting operations from receiving and production through quality control and final product handling. The design will prioritize secure access, safety, contamination control, material flow, and efficient operations. Office areas will include reception, a breakroom, conference rooms, and private and shared offices.

Located at Discovery Ridge adjacent to the new Discovery Drive Road addition, the facility will have access to available utilities. A new drive will serve parking and shipping and receiving areas, with parking sized for full occupancy and pedestrian access provided to and around the building. parking and shipping and receiving.
