The new 12,000 square foot addition to the existing Peoria Public Library – Lincoln Branch will triple the size of the existing Carnegie Library facility, improving and extending library services to the south side of Peoria. Design features include a ‘living wall’ that will screen the new modern facility from the classical gem of the existing Carnegie Library. The addition houses extended technology services and larger book collections. The Carnegie Library was remodeled on the interior to allow for large study spaces and the re-incorporation of many of the original design features consistent with its historical landmark status. River City Construction worked in conjunction with the Owner and the Design Team to facilitate a project that met the budget, schedule, and goals of all parties involved.
- Owner: Peoria Public Libray
- Architect: Farnsworth Group
- Status: Completed December 2011
“We had very difficult budget constraints during these projects. River City Construction provided excellent value engineering advice which enabled construction to be of the highest quality, but not over-priced. These decisions were a complete team effort with RCC and the Board of Trustees Building Committee striving to reach the same goals.”
“In conclusion, I believe the Main Library, new North Branch, Carnegie Lincoln Branch addition and renovation, the renovated McClure Branch and the refurbished Lakeview Branch speak for themselves. These were five different and distinct projects with each having unique challenges River City Construction guided the Peoria Public Library Board to an exceptionally successful result.
I recommend River City Construction to any organization contemplating a building project without hesitation and am available to elaborate on any additional questions.”
