Stephen Dorris

“Building is exciting to me. To see the final product is what it’s all about.”

Being part of the River City Construction team for 20+ years has allowed Stephen to cultivate long-lasting relationships with clients and team members. As Executive Vice President of Operations, he oversees the field superintendents across all projects that start in the company’s Southern Illinois (Benton) office.

With experience in supervision and scheduling of projects ranging from water and wastewater construction, concrete construction, and building construction, Stephen believes that the best way to make a customer experience memorable is to make a one-on-one connection and be an advocate for client needs.

One of the most rewarding parts of his job is mentoring young people about the business and paving a path for new skilled workers. He also enjoys seeing a project come to life from paper, to the finished result.

Outside of work, Stephen enjoys farming, spending time with family and fishing.  He’s making plans for more of these activities following his retirement in 2025.
