This improvement project included replacement of the existing chemical storage and feed facilities and equipment, including: sodium permanganate relocation from Jacobson Reservoir to Richmond Road Station, polyaluminum chloride, polymer, fluoride, and phosphate at Richmond Road Station, powdered activated carbon relocation from Richmond Road Station to Jacobson Reservoir, and ferric chloride and sodium permanganate at Kentucky River Station 1. Additionally, the project included the conversion of several chemicals applied at both Richmond Road Station and Kentucky River Station 1, including: gaseous chlorine to sodium hypochlorite, gaseousammonia to ammonium hydroxide (aqua ammonia) and caustic to liquid lime.
