Edwardsville, IL
The Founders Hall renovation and expansion at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville encompassed significant upgrades, including hazardous materials abatement, utility replacements, site improvements, seismic infrastructure enhancements, and modernization of building systems and interiors. The new addition provided connectivity across all floor levels—tunnel, basement, first, second, and third levels, as well as the penthouse.
Phase one focused on preparatory work in various parts of the building to facilitate future system upgrades, all while maintaining occupancy on certain floors. Phase two primarily involved renovations to the tunnel, basement, and first level. The university directly contracted prime contractors to execute critical upgrades in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems. Notably, the project achieved LEED Silver certification for its sustainable design and construction practices.
