The Bioplex is the final piece to complete Missouri S&T’s master planned arrival court, creating a highly visible beacon to the surrounding community and ‘planting the flag’ to announce S&T’s arrival as a prestigious Carnegie R1 research institution to the rest of the world.
This 110,000 SF building will focus on biological sciences and features: 17 research labs, specialized core labs, including a vivarium and the Center for Biomedical Research, cognitive neuroscience labs, teaching labs and active learning classrooms, faculty offices with student collaboration spaces, and a geothermal energy plant and support areas like loading dock, shop, and utility rooms.
A one-level bridge will connect the Bioplex to Bertelsmeyer Hall, encouraging collaboration between students and researchers. Its location near Schrenk Hall will also strengthen ties with programs in chemical and biochemical engineering, chemistry, environmental science, and psychology.
