Edwardsville, IL
The renovation of the existing four-story, 182,560 SF Science Facility encompassed extensive upgrades, including improvements to offices, lecture halls, general classrooms, and physics laboratories. Enhancements featured new windows, roof repairs, and the complete replacement of heating, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
While the building was vacated throughout construction, the large lecture halls in Building B remained operational during the academic year to support university activities. The project also incorporated new utilities and site improvements, achieving LEED certification for its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.
“… Interim Chancellor Steve Hansen and I stood at the entrance of the newly renovated auditorium in Science East, our old science building, and listened to student reactions. One in particular pretty much sums it up, “Wow.”
On behalf of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and mostly on behalf of the students, I want to express our great appreciation to you and everyone at River City who was involved in making this possible. At the risk of forgetting someone, of particular note were Bryan Woolsey and Phil Kingdon.”
– Kenneth Neher, Vice Chancellor for Administration
